Knesseth Israel, the "Junction Shul," Toronto, 2018
This synagogue is among the oldest in Toronto, built by the Knesseth Israel Congregation which was formed in 1909. The members purchased land for a synagogue on Mariah Street in The Junction in 1911, and the building opened for services in 1913, which continue until today.

At the time when the CNE still had a large midway, games of chance such as Crown and Anchor were popular with late night attendees at Toronto’s annual fall exposition. This photo is reminiscent of an image by Fred Herzog taken at the Pacific National Exposition in Vancouver in 1961.
